One of our first projects when we moved in was the wall standing in the middle of the large room. It served as storage by the entryway, with the other end facing the dining room. I thought of putting in statement pieces (e.g. giant round wall clock, giant mirrors), but we decided to build a plank wall then put a simple skeleton 29-30″ round wall clock.

Here are our inspirations for the wall:

I measured the height and width of the wall, drew up the rows of how I wanted the planks arranged, measured the lengths and had Home Depot cut up the planks. After I got home with the cut and sized planks, it was pretty much like putting together a puzzle from there. I initially wanted the whole wall whitewashed, but AJ suggested to have the colors mixed up. I looked up more inspirations from Pinterest (shown above), and decided on some silver and a few dark-stained planks. When I’ve spray painted, stained, and whitewashed some, I saw the raw planks blended in nicely so I just left it as is.

We loved how it turned out, and we get a lot of compliments from it. So, we decided to build a table version.
